Photo highlights from the grade 11 biology field trip!

On May 15th, 2024, grade 11 students in Ms. Gratton and Ms. Sharma’s biology classes went on a field trip to the Ontario Science Centre! The trip was packed with fun; not only did students get the chance to explore the building and interact with all of the fun exhibits, but they also got to participate in a one-of-a-kind workshop.

The 90-minute lab involved cutting and pasting a jellyfish’s “glowing” gene into E. coli bacteria to make it glow under ultraviolet light! The hands-on activity focused on concepts learned in-depth in the course’s first unit, genetics. Consider taking grade 11 biology to learn an interesting curriculum (filled with glowing bacteria) and perhaps get the chance to go on a fun field trip!
