Alas,
The days are dark.
The winter winds roaring at the concept of my peace,
the snow up to my neck,
Pressure on my chest,
I can’t breathe.
Fatigue washing over me,
frostbite consuming me,
I didn’t stand a chance,
My mind stops but my heart continues.
The new season springs,
life through nature begins to reveal itself,
Flowers, leaves, birds, and bees,
My body thaws slowly but surely,
Legs, chest, arms, brain,
I regain consciousness of all I’ve missed in the time I’ve been gone,
I express gratefulness for the return of self,
I walk outside,
Finally,
The days are sunnier than before,
The soft breezes gracefully passing by,
soft ocean currents carrying me,
I can breathe.
And the avalanche which once consumed me,
Has turned into the very beach I look to for peace and comfort.
