As of February 5th, King’s Wellness Week has officially been reinstated for the 2025-26 school year. Despite this, however, the lengthy consultation process has not yet come to a close.
The modified calendar pilot project is being extended to gather more information and assess the break’s benefits. As of right now, Audley Salmon, associate director of the TDSB, states that the Trustees are actively in the consultation process. A report will be submitted to the PSSC and board by May of this year.
Several delegates representing the RH King community spoke out at the recent meeting by the TDSB’s Program and School Services Committee. Student council members, Ahnaaf Hassan and Sapna Rathee share the results of their council’s survey (showing an overwhelming majority against the removal of the modified calendar) and share their own experiences with the break.
Students are encouraged to still actively advocate for the Wellness Week and other unique aspects of the academy; while the break has been reinstated for the next school year, it is not confirmed whether it will be reinstated for the years following as well.

I hope the board decides to keep the break for the future! (and maybe that other schools decide to implement it…) It can tell it has been really beneficial to King students!
