As the holiday season draws closer, here are some books and T.V. shows to keep people entertained during cozy evenings at home. Finding something good to stay interested in is hard enough as is, so here are some suggestions that are sure to make the mark!
- Wicked: The Movie
A movie adaptation of the Broadway hit, Wicked is a lighthearted story following Glinda and Elphaba, the Good Witch of the North and the Wicked Witch of the West, before they were given these titles. Consider it an origin story of sorts, starring Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.
2. Once Upon a Broken Heart
A new series from New York Times Best-selling Author Stephanie Graber, Once Upon a Broke Heart follows Evangeline Fox as she strikes a deal with the Prince of Hearts after learning that the love of her life will marry another. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, the time and place of which he will choose. The story will keep readers hooked, and the series is good for teens and adults alike, and is easy to read for those worried about the reading level.
3. When The Phone Rings (k-drama)
A new mystery-romance k-drama series, it follows Baek Sa-eon, a presidential spokesperson specializing in hostage exchange, and Hong Hee-joo, a replacement bride from a wealthy family swapped in for her sister, who is also selectively mute following an accident. The drama is currently on-going, but has received much love from the audience, with 4 episodes out and the 5th airing next week.
4. The Brothers Hawthorne (an Inheritance Game Novel)
For fans of Jennifer Lynn Barnes’ Inheritance Games, get ready for the next installment of the series. The 4th book follows mainly Jameson and Greyson as they fight on two separate fronts to win two different games set out by family members they wanted nothing to do with, all the while battling their inner demons to come out on top. Get ready for some mind-bending puzzles, as well as wholesome ‘mess-with-one-brother-you-mess-with-the-whole-family’ moments.
5. Nothing Like the Movies
For fans of Better Than the Movies, check out the next part of Wes and Liz’s story as they navigate university, as well as matters of the heart. Can Wes correct the mistakes he made two years ago and get Liz back? Read on to find out. This next book in the duology will be a neat ribbon to finish their story, as the author doesn’t plan on writing another story centering around them in the foreseeable future.
6. Family by Choice
A wholesome drama about three kids and their best-friend-dads, the drama follows Kim San-ha, Kang Hae-joon, and Yoon Joo-won as they navigate life without their mothers, deal with family dramas, and try to make it in this world. The best drama for comedy and wholesome drama lovers to watch in the evening, with 16 episodes to complete airing.
