It’s been one month into the school year and now everyone is starting to get used to their school routine again. Nevertheless, there are some students who might be struggling to get back into the habit of studying regularly and keeping up with homework, assignments, extracurriculars, etc. It takes a lot of refocusing and disciplining your mind to be productive. In this article, a couple of tips and suggestions will be provided to help people start off the year with newfound inspiration.
Start fixing small habits
Many students may have already gotten so used to their summer vacation sleeping schedule that it may be difficult for them to switch to an early wake-up routine. So, addressing small habits like this should be an easy place to start. Fixing sleep patterns and eating meals on time will give someone a good start in their journey to build a new routine. Once a person gets used to waking up early and eating meals on time, adding another set of habits that are slightly more difficult than the previous two, (e.g., finishing homework on the day that it is given) will result in a perfect cycle for that person to follow.
Keeping things manageable and balanced
If someone is aware that they cannot handle taking on too much work in one day, they should schedule every task in advance and decide how much time they can dedicate to it each day. This method will help the individual to keep unwanted stress away and enjoy free time mindfully. Developing a balanced and complementary set of goals for each day is also super vital.
It sounds like a manageable schedule to follow, for instance, to arrive home from school, take a shower and rest for an hour, finish homework, play video games, or do any leisure hobbies, and then help with any household tasks or other obligations that occur at home. It provides space for relaxation, time for schoolwork, recreational activities, and meeting any obligations or responsibilities a student may have at home. So, making sure that goals are achievable and work well next to each other is crucial for creating an efficient routine.
Find a study buddy
It would be quite beneficial to find a friend who is also building positive habits and inspiring themselves to be productive for the upcoming academic year. When people perceive that someone else is working toward the same goals, they are typically more engaged and motivated. By keeping in regular touch and discussing their progress, this friend will be able to offer support and make advances together on this journey. Having a study buddy increases responsibility as a student, as they feel more accustomed to meeting their own goals knowing that someone else is motivated by their progress.
These were a few strategies for improving a student’s capacity to commit to a routine in daily life, which will raise their chances of success in their own pursuits. Making sure that the routine seems sustainable will prevent burnout. With determination and a consistent approach, students can grow into their daily habits and make the most of their time both within and outside of school.
