King’s Court Representatives, led by co-chairs Ishraq Alam and Mannat Kaur Barhey, is an indispensable council at R.H. King Academy.
The current group (of over 60 students) takes charge of King’s most important admin events, such as parent-teacher interviews, photo day and of course, graduation!
Every Wednesday, council members gather in B42 and take note of upcoming events. Many members are grateful for the council as they receive volunteer hours for the time they put into running events. Moreover, playing a big part in school events looks great on applications.
The council’s atmosphere encourages a positive environment where members are eager to help out around the school; volunteering hardly feels like volunteering with KCR.
While becoming a KCR member ensures students are a part of a caring team, it also ensures that they’ll gain valuable leadership experience. During large events, KCR allows a few junior members to shadow the senior members who lead the event.
By the time the following year rolls around, the juniors lead the same event, using what they learned from shadowing their seniors. KCR’s system is ingenious, allowing students to step up to bigger roles while still having lots of time to properly prepare for them.
Take a look at some photos taken at KCR-led events!
