“This picture was made by me last year in my art class. I was explaining how people have two sides to their personality or emotions. The right side shows the happy, bright side of a person. The left side shows that they might be struggling internally or mentally. This side of the person shows how they might be struggling to come out and express how they are really feeling. I wanted to use myself as a reference in this portrait. The thing that I love about this is that it personally relates to everyone in a way. People can understand the feeling of hiding how they really feel.”

“This picture was a portrait that I made of myself in the style of another artist. I used the picture from my puberty ceremony which is why I am wearing a saree (a type of traditional wear in my culture). The artist that I chose was Frida Kahlo. She does a lot of natural backgrounds which is why I used a natural background in this picture.”
