The spring breeze is finally coming in and this calls for the largest known tulip festival! The tulip festival is Canada’s largest tulip field filled with 35 acres of gorgeous blooming tulips. The event will run from May 10th to May 20th, 2024 and is free for everyone! The field is located in the Commissioners Park in Ottawa and has so many fun, free activities.
The tulip market is one of the biggest draws of the festival. The market lasts from 10 am to 8 pm daily and has a variety of merchandise from small businesses and bouquets of fresh-cut and potted tulips! Next, there are daily movie showings in the park. Children’s movies will play at 2 pm and family movies will play at 7 pm.
The park will have a variety of activities to participate in, such as a Mario Kart Race, a free flight simulator, various workshops and raffle tickets! The park will turn into a blacklight boardwalk from 8 pm-10 pm, showcasing colourful LED lights and a light and sound show! This boardwalk is not only for entertainment but also for helping pollinators! The bright lights will attract pollinators like butterflies and bees in order to help keep them and the environment healthy!
Away from the activities, and entertainment, there are so many food trucks, hotels, and restaurants throughout the park. These food trucks serve a variety of foods from Beavertails to Açaí bowls, BBQ chicken, shawarma and so much more! The festival will also have tours around the park to learn about the history and types of tulips at the festival!
