Formula 1 fans were used to seeing Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton dominate the grid for many years and had probably grown quite used to it until a couple of years ago when Red Bull and especially one of their drivers, Max Verstappen started to quickly gain the top spot frequently in the sport.
Red Bull Racing, also known as Oracle Red Bull Racing, is a Formula 1 racing team that is widely known now for its recent success in the sport. You can trace Red Bull’s first appearance on the track back to 1995 when it was a sponsor for the Sauber F1 team, its first actual entry in the 2005 Australian Grand Prix the first race of that season where they placed 4th and 7th. Since their entry in the sport, they have won 6 Constructors Championships and 7 Drivers Championships with their best season so far being their most recent one in 2023 with them getting a total of 860 points and winning both the Constructors and Drivers Championships.
Just last year Red Bull won 21 out of the 22 races entered last year giving them a 95.4% accuracy which set a new record alone. A few other records the team broke last year was when one of their drivers Max Verstappen broke the record for most wins in a row with 10 consecutive wins, taking the most podiums with Max Verstappen achieving 21 out of 22, collecting the most points in the Constructors Championship which was all thanks to the RB19, designed and constructed by Red Bull Racing itself.
Red Bull has won 2 Constructors Championships in a row and has won 3 Drivers Championships in a row which you can say marks the start of Red Bull’s dominance although they also had great success in the previous year when they had Sebastian Vettel driving for them and winning 4 Driver Championships straight. In 2016 Red Bull particularly saw a change when they placed second in their Constructors Championship and then they saw a change after that they consistently stayed in the top 3 when it came to the championship and their racing stats started improving as each season Red Bull started winning more races, getting more podiums and so on. Red Bull often also has great driver talent which contributes to their great success for example, Max Verstappen is a name that has constantly come up during this article. Many people may argue he may be on the track to becoming one of the most successful drivers the sport has seen or is already one as his records just keep improving every season.
With the 2024 Formula 1 season coming up soon, it is predicted that once again Red Bull may take the top spot as the results from this year’s car testing show that their car for this year seems to just keep on improving with their star driver Verstappen claiming their new car the RB20 had a “very positive test”. Only time will tell if Red Bull will once again live up to their standards.
