Ways to turn this semester around

February 21, 2022

Semester one has come to an end, and semester two began as of February 3rd, 2022. This time it will look a little different. There will be four classes a day and they are each 75 minutes long.

Since semesters have gone back to how they normally were, many students are feeling both anxious and excited. Many strive to do better in school and as semester two is starting up. There are many ways for students to learn and prepare for the upcoming semester.

Some of the methods students can use to prepare for the second semester are by organizing, reviewing, and checking in on their mental health.

Students are always organized at the beginning of the year with their work. However, that usually lasts around three months before schoolwork goes missing. Something that can help is having an agenda. Having an agenda can help organize school work and it will make sure due dates are not forgotten. To-do lists can also help students stay organized as they will know what they have to do.

Note takingMany students have trouble remembering what they learned in previous years. So, when they show up to class and are given a diagnostic by their teacher they will not do as great as they typically would have wanted. Reviewing before new classes start can help with that. By reviewing, they can re-read every assignment done in the previous year to refresh their memory. Reviewing course material is helpful since students will know what to expect and what’s coming.

School takes a huge toll on students mentally. With all the assignments and tests that they receive, it can get overwhelming and difficult. Many students start stressing over upcoming classes even before they begin. Students should relax and check in with themselves. Taking a step back and doing things to relax the mind and body can help. Furthermore, it can possibly improve performance in classes.

Things are going back to normal day by day. Students will finally be able to have a normal high school semester and this time around, they’ll be more prepared and ready.
