Cobra Kai, a spinoff series of the classic movie: The Karate Kid, recently released their third season of the show on January 8th, 2021. Cobra Kai stars familiar faces such as Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso and William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence along with some new faces as well such as Tanner Buchanan playing Robby Keene, Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz and Jacob Bertrand as Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz.
Cobra Kai takes place 34 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament as a middle-aged Johnny Lawrence loses his job, and decides to start up his own dojo for teens to start learning karate with him as their sensei. Meanwhile, a middle-aged Daniel LaRusso is very successful with a perfect family and owns his very own car dealership, but still carries a grudge against Johnny from the past, so the feud starts up all over again. The Cobra Kai Dojo attracts many social outcasts and bullied kids, who want to be more self-confident, but still holds on to the very brutal and rough way of teaching. Throughout the series, Johnny reconnects with his abandoned son, mentors a community kid and realizes he never really got over his high school girlfriend.
The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai fans just can’t get enough of the action and drama throughout the series and are demanding for a fourth season. Producers have listened to the requests of the fans and have announced that the hit series has signed a contract for 3 more seasons, taking the show up to a 6 season television series! The writers have been working on the season 4 script for many months, and hope to start shooting soon. “We’re still figuring out some of the specifics, but the intent is for early , to get back on set, with all the COVID protocols in place, and to get back to some karate ass-kicking in the valley,” says Jon Hurwitz, the head writer of Cobra Kai.
Whether you’re a die-hard Karate Kid fan, take martial arts yourself, or just love the drama of it all, Cobra Kai is definitely the perfect show for you. You can stream this action-packed series on Netflix, Youtube Red, or Google Play, with a subscription.
