WandaVision: Coming Soon to Disney +
January 11, 2021
Whether you are Team D.C. or Team Marvel, you cannot argue that Scarlet Witch or Wanda Maximoff is an incredibly powerful avenger who deserved a more developed story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Movies. Marvel is set to air their newest series ‘WandaVision’ on Disney + on January 15th, starring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as her boyfriend Vision.
WandaVision is a new and ambitious project for Marvel as they are experimenting with 30- minute long comedic episodes, based around the 1950s to ’80s and fans just can not get enough! @BrandonDavisBD says “#WandaVision is truly unlike anything the MCU has put out before. I can’t emphasize that enough.” he continues on his Twitter post, “It is a blast to watch. It is so committed to the sitcom structure of storytelling that it feels like a bold risk – but it pays off and builds a mystery. It is awesome.”
WandaVision follows the story of Wanda and Vision as they live normal lives, but they begin to suspect they have more power than it seems. The storyline includes smaller characters from the other MCU movies, including Captain Marvel, Thor: The Dark World, and Antman and The Wasp. The series will also be mentioning the Sentient World Observation and Response Department (also known as S.W.O.R.D.) which is a sub-division of the larger, well-known organization S.H.I.E.L.D. Audiences will also be receiving a glimpse of the origins of Wanda’s powers.
While most Marvel shows that air on Netflix are released an entire season at a time, MCU boss Kevin Feige announces that the WandaVision sitcom episodes will be dropped once a week to keep Marvel fans intrigued. WandaVision can be watched on Disney + with a subscription on January 15th, along with many other new Marvel titles to come throughout 2021.
