With the last game against the Seattle Mariners, the Toronto Blue Jays will now be advancing to the World Series!
After winning against the New York Yankees earlier this month, Toronto’s Blue Jays advanced to the American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the Seattle Mariners. With the first game on October 12th, both teams had a close series, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. In the 7th game the Seattle Mariners were leading with a 3-1 score, but with George Springer hitting a 3 run homerun, the Blue Jays were able to secure their win. This brings the Blue Jays to the World Series for the first time since 1993. Now, the Blue Jays will go against the National League Championship Series (NLCS) winners for the World Series.
The series did not look promising at all for Toronto’s baseball team, as the Jays were down 0-2 in the series and going to Seattle for games 3, 4 and 5! Going into the third game, hopes were not running high for the Jays. Julio Rodriguez’s two-run home run in the first inning stirred thoughts of a potential sweep for the Mariners. But Andres Gimenez was just what the Jays needed; he scored a two-run homer to tie the game in the third inning, sparking an incredible comeback from the Jays. After that point, the Jays dominated the game, with Guerrero Jr., Clement, Kirk, Springer, Barger, Lukes, and Santander all scoring runs. The Toronto Blue Jays ended up winning the game 13-4, closing the gap to 2-1 in the ALCS!
With some incredible pitches from Hoffman to finish the game, the Blue Jays secured the win and are going to the World Series for the first time since 1993! The streets of Downtown Toronto were packed after the game, with a sea of people wearing blue chanting “Blue Jays” over and over again. And with that exciting 7 game series, the Blue Jays spring into the World Series, ready to vanquish the LA Dodgers and win the World Series!
The World Series will be against the Los Angeles Dodgers, with the first game happening here in Toronto. Don’t forget to tune in to the game on Friday, October 24th at 8:00 PM.
